Building Principles
Solve more than one problem without making new problems.
Satisfy a whole range of criteria; be good in all respects.
Accept given limits using, to the extent possible, what is at hand.
Improve the balances, symmetries, and harmonies of the design.
– Wendell Berry, Solving For Pattern
Simplicity
Manning Enterprizes is a design-build company. We no longer follow the older “design-bid-build” process where each phase is done independently by different parties. During our projects we work directly with all parties involved (architects, engineers, sub-contractors and customers) to eliminate communication errors. We spend more time talking and planning to exponentially speed up construction time.
Beauty
Beauty is perceived as value and the more valuable something is, the more likely people will keep and maintain it over time. We encourage all of our customers to be creative and to incorporate art into their construction projects. Any way in which we can help them personalize their projects will dramatically increases satisfaction with the finished product. You would be amazed at how good it feels to come home every day and remember: “That was my idea.” 🙂
Strength
Structures today are not built to last. People think they are saving money by using cheap materials and/or cheap labor, but no one calculates the cost of maintenance and repair. The true cost of these low-priced materials is hidden from public view. These materials actually come with a much larger price tag, not only financially but to our natural resource supply as well. Nothing lasts forever, but with improved design and more conscious product choices, structures can maximize a material’s life. Manning Enterprizes designs all of our structures with these two principles in mind.
